What are pulse and rhythm?

In Music this term, we are focussing on developing our singing skills and, in particular, being able to control pulse and rhythm. This week, we looked at the difference between pulse and rhythm. We found a steady pulse and practised clapping it out while also adding a stamp. We then developed a rhythm by clapping out different sentences which fitted in with the pulse, sometimes having to clap twice for one beat. In groups, the class then created their own rhythms to fit in with the pulse. They really enjoyed exploring how to change the rhythm while making sure that the pulse stayed the same. A super lesson!
