A field trip to the Black Brook!

We had a fantastic time on Wednesday to sum up our river study topic ‘A mile down The Nile or an oar down The Soar?’. The children found out where the Black brook comes from and where it runs to. We found out that the brook comes from the Black Brook reservoir, around 7 miles up stream where there is an amazing gravity dam, if you would ever like to visit! We have been studying the River Soar, so the children were excited to find out that the Black Brook flows into the River Soar. Whilst at the Black Brook the children were able to have a close up look at how sediment is carried and how erosion takes place. We also did some Monet style outdoor painting using water from the Black Brook! The children have done a wonderful job learning all about rivers this half term.
