How did the Ancient Egyptians protect their towns?
We all knew that the Ancient Egyptians wouldn’t have the weapons we might expect to see in modern times today so we thought carefully about the materials that would have been available to them. We researched and found out that one of the earliest models of a catapult was actually invented by the Ancient Egyptians. We have been learning all about forces in science and so we were able to apply this knowledge, combine it with some DT skills in order to make a simple catapult using a lever. We explored moving the pivot and making the lever arms longer and shorter to see how the trajectory was affected. We had great fun launching ‘rocks’ (paper balls) across the playground!
