Shabbat

This week in RE, we have been learning of the importance of the day of rest for Jews known as Shabbat. It begins on Friday night through to Saturday night. It is a day to come away from our busy lives and focus on ourselves and our families. It allows Jewish people to take a break from the fast paced technological world we live in and reflect and spend time thinking about God. We watched a video of a young boy participating in Shabbat with his family. As part of the tradition, a special kind of bread called Challah is shared with the family. The children really enjoyed making their own Challah bread. We found plaiting the bread was tricky but we were proud of our achievements.
