Who was Florence Nightingale?

I have been so impressed with how enthusiastic the children have been in learning about Florence Nightingale. The children have concentrated to the information we have learnt about her from reading information on power points to hearing information from videos. The children have retained facts well as a result of our daily retrieval sessions and are able to recall their learning well. Please do ask them to tell you all about this remarkable woman who set out to change nursing for the better. It is because of her passion and commitment to see cleaner hospitals and raise the profile of the hard work that nurses did, that changed the face of nursing into the wonderfully dedicated profession it is today. Never more than in the past couple of years have we truly appreciated the work of nurses (and other healthcare professions).
