Chinese New Year

We have really enjoyed learning about how the Chinese New Year is celebrated and some of the traditions linked to the celebration. The festival linked in well to our topic this half term on animals and we enjoyed exploring the features of animals that took part in the great race and linking it back to what we have learnt about animals. Children have role played the story with props. We have been working our hand muscles to help us use chopsticks as we count the correct number of objects and used brushes to help us form numbers in Mandarin. We ended the week with making lanterns and lucky red envelopes in which we had a yummy sweet treat. This year is the year of the Tiger.
