We hope you had a relaxing half term!

Our Unit 2 topic is all about Conflict and Resolution and we will be exploring our learning question
“Who can help me?”

In English we will be looking at the traditional tale of The Three Little Pigs as well as listening to some poetry. We will be focusing on story characters and sequencing the beginning, middle and end of the story. The children will continue with daily phonics lessons which will help them begin to write simple words and phrases. In maths children will become familiar with the numbers 1,2,3,4 and 5. Children will learn how to recognise these numbers when shown in different representations. children will also be taught how to count carefully and match the numeral to the amount they have. The will also learn one more and one less than an amount to 5. In RHSE, we will be teaching the children to value our differences and the British Value focus is Mutual Respect. Our science lessons will focus on identifying simple materials and recognising which materials are best to use in order to build a strong house. In music, we will be continuing to learn a range of nursery rhymes with a focus on Humpty Dumpty. In DT, the children will be taught how to join materials using tape, glue and split pins.

At Robert Bakewell we firmly believe that reading is the key that opens doors for our children. Please ensure that you hear your child read daily and record this in their diary so that they can earn points towards our fabulous reading prizes.

Please keep an eye on our webpage as we will upload photographs on a regular basis, to showcase the wonderful learning that is going on in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.

PE this half term will be on Tuesday, so please ensure children have their indoor PE kit in school each week. This includes black shorts/leggings and white t-shirts and black pumps. Please ensure your kit is named!
