Impasto

This half-term, Rowan class are completing an artist study surrounding the work of post-impressionist painter, Vincent van Gogh. Today, the children learnt how to use ‘impasto’, a technique which van Gogh used in all his paintings. To paint using ‘impasto’, you must layer paint thickly onto the page to create texture. They experimented first with the technique before applying it to a drawing of a fruit.
