Who is Frida Kahlo?

We have started off our ‘How can you grow like Frida Kahlo?’ theme with some interesting drawing today! We learnt all about Frida Kahlo’s life and how she first got into painting portraits. Did you know she was involved in a near fatal bus crash and had to wear a full body cast for three months? It was during this time that she first began painting portraits. Her parents had a special easel made to go over her hospital bed so she could paint whilst lying down. To help us understand how difficult this was we tried drawing a self portrait whilst lying down today. We used the underside of the table as our easel. It was really hard and that is without wearing a full body cast!
