Elm

Welcome to the Elm Class page!

Welcome back everyone! We really hope that you’ve had a lovely half term and are ready for Unit 2.

Our Unit 2 focus is ‘conflict and resolution’ and our topic question is ‘How did Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole help soldiers in the war?’

Our class novel study is Malala’s Magic Pencil. We will be writing a diary entry and a non-chronological report on Pakistan.

In Maths, we are focusing on addition and subtraction within 100. using Base 10 to help us.

In Science, we are looking at everyday materials and will be running lots of experiments to test the properties of wood, paper, cardboard, fabric and plastic.

In RHSE we are thinking about celebrating differences and what make us and our families special.

PE this half term will be yoga and we will be Thursday and Fridays, so please ensure children have their indoor PE kit in school each week. This includes black shorts, white t-shirt and black pumps/black trainers. Now we are heading towards the colder months, please make sure your child has a warm, black jumper and black jogging bottoms too as we will be outside weather permitting! Please ensure your kit is named!

We love reading at Robert Bakewell, so please try to read as much as possible with your child at home, we cannot wait to hear all about their exciting reads!

Don’t forget to keep an eye on our webpage as we will upload photographs regularly to showcase the fabulous learning happening in class and our Stars of the Week.

Please refer to our knowledge organise for any homework ideas and please practice weekly spellings sent home.

Please do come and speak to me on the playground in the mornings and at the end of the day if you have any questions but you can also email the office at: office@robertbakewellprimary.com too.
