Exploring a piece of music

In music this half term, we are focusing on the composer Gustav Holst and his piece of music ‘Mars - the Bringer of War’. We spent the lesson listening carefully to the piece, sharing how it made us feel and why he dedicated it to the planet Mars.

While listening to the music, the children had to think about the following questions:

If the music was a colour, what would it be? What shape would it be? What would it look like if it was a line? Then they had to use these ideas to create a picture of a rocket flying to Mars.

The children really enjoyed the music and came up with some great ideas!
