How did explorers carry all their kit?

In the first DT lesson of our new topic, we investigated the equipment an explorer might have to take with them on an expedition. The rucksack was really heavy! We had a letter from Polar Preet, asking for our help. She used a sledge to tow her gear across the Antarctic but needs something different for her new Arctic adventure. We are going to design and build transport that will carry her equipment over ice, rock and through water.
