Making an egg bag for Farmer Rae - The beginning
In DT, Farmer Rae has set us the task of making a new egg bag for her. She needed it to be soft and still be strong if it gets wet. To help us decide which material to use, we tested the strength of card, tissue paper and fabric by taping them to a table, attaching a plastic wallet to the other end and filling it with wooden blocks until they ripped.
The children had mixed results with some groups saying that the card was the strongest but some disagreed saying it was the fabric. To help us make a final decision, we soaked both of the materials and then retested. Fabric came out as the strongest when wet, so that is the material we are going to use!
