As a part of Black History Month, we’ve been looking at who Rosa Parks is and how she made a difference.
In 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person on a bus. The bus driver asked her to move, but Rosa Parks said no.
As a result the police came and she was arrested. That night, a number of African-American leaders got together and decided to boycott the city buses.
Eventually, the segregation rules in Alabama were changed.
Rosa Parks became a symbol to many African-Americans of the fight for equal rights. She is still a symbol of freedom and equality to many today.
