Toys from the past

We have been very fortunate this week to be able to ask direct questions about toys from the past. We had a grandparent come in and talk to us about the sorts of toys she played with as a young girl. We learnt that many families had to share their toys with their brothers and sisters rather than have their own set of toys. We also learnt that toys were made from different materials compared to the toys we play with now. In the past, teddy bears often had moving joints and were stuffed with wood shavings whereas now, our bears are more stuffed with wool and are very soft. Our toys are also more colourful and often made from plastic, with many having electrical parts to them. We also discovered that some toys have remained the same such as lego, board games and marbles.
