Sewing
In DT this term the children are learning to sew a running stitch. This is because the library need bookmarks and so Alder class are going to make some. The children have studied different materials that are used to make a bookmark with along with looking at different shapes and sizes. As a class we have decided that rectangular shapes are best for a book mark along with a flattish decoration. We have decided to learn how to sew a basic running stitch so the children can decorate their bookmark.
Today the children practiced their running stitch but onto a plastic frame. The children were very capable at sewing so I now can not wait to see their future bookmarks.
